Label Demand Index™ (LDI)
A planned quarterly indicator of demand in the label industry. It is research under development: no index values have been calculated or published.
What the LDI is not, yet. It has no published scores, no approved methodology, no patent, and no endorsement from any research body. Any figure presented as an LDI value elsewhere did not come from us.
What it is meant to do
Give converters, suppliers, brand owners and investors a consistent, citable read on label demand, released every quarter on a fixed calendar, with its method published in full.
What must exist before the first release
- A methodological framework
Defined measures, weighting and treatment of seasonality, written down and versioned.
- Consistent longitudinal data
Enough history from the same sources, collected the same way, to make quarter-on-quarter changes meaningful.
- Sampling rules
Who contributes, minimum sample sizes, and how contributors are kept confidential.
- Backtesting
Checking the index against past periods and independent indicators.
- Expert review
Review by economists and industry practitioners before anything is published.
Work with us on it
We are looking for economists, statisticians, research firms and industry companies willing to discuss methodology, contribute data under confidentiality, or review drafts. Tell us how you would like to be involved.
